Spread Magic

I have always been jealous of Disney characters; when the going gets tough there is some magic: fairy godmother, spirit animal, even a genie to help guide the hero through the tough spots.  Yes, they still need determination, grit and persistence to push through their seemingly insurmountable obstacles but these “helpers” are there with perfect timing to give those characters a little nudge.

I know sometimes in my life, when I am beaten down, exhausted and feeling trapped in a never-ending battle with no win, no relief, and no end in sight; it would be nice to have a Disney moment.

But this is real life.

In real life people and/or animals may not randomly bust out into perfectly harmonized song, but each day life presents opportunities to grow and become stronger.

I have always believed I can learn something from everyone I encounter.  I also believe the reason people are in my life may not be obvious at first.  Each person possesses unique gifts and talents to share with the world.  Each person encounters struggles to overcome.  Each person is in a least one other person’s life to be their rock, their anchor, their magic; to be the steady ever encouraging presence to provide that extra oomph just when it is needed.

Each person also has at least one person in their life that could be their rock, their anchor, their magic.  It may not be obvious at first and sometimes your mind is clouded and foggy with all the stress and noise of the day; but search deep within yourself.  Deep within your second brain, your gut, your intuition; you know with whom to share a smile, laugh or tear.  Who will wait patiently while you cry and just be there for you.  Who will listen to you speak, not judging, not rushing, only loving.

Do not fret if they are not obvious at first, life is change.  Each day is new with different opportunities and new souls to encounter.  Your rock will change as you change and that is okay.  Remember it is your life, if you create it you can change it.  And if you are new to practicing searching deep within yourself, know it is a daily practice that will grow with time.  “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”  From Confucius.

Recognize the emotion love is too big to be contained, the more you share the more is brought back to you and the more you will have to give.  Start small.  Offer gratitude to those in your life for being in your life.  Acknowledge those who anchor you.  Think about with whom right now you could share a smile, laugh or tear.  Think about to whom you may bring joy, right now… … … …Now, what are you waiting for?

Smiles are a universal language, even my pups smile.  You can hear a smile in someone’s voice over the phone.  If you smile and it is not returned, or you encounter someone who does not also smile with their eyes; perhaps you need to offer some time to that person and help create that Disney moment for another soul.  Even just acknowledging them and asking “Are you alright?”

When you are joyful, share it with the world.  Let the feelings of wonder, pleasure, love, happiness and gratitude soar from your being as a light that touches every nook and cranny on Earth.

If you are sad, do not feel shame.  Release your tears; do not bottle the emotion and pain inside you.  There is love in the world.  There is joy in the world.  There is hope in the world.  When it is needed it will find its way to you.

Do not fear.  Struggle invites growth.  Love your scars, they are proof you live.  They are a reminder that you have been tested and have overcome and you will be tested again.  Remember you are a rock to someone.  Drop a pebble into a pond and watch the ripples spread.  Give yourself to the world.  Have gratitude for those around you.  Be true to yourself.  Dig Deep.

“At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.” –Lao Tzu
